Uttarakhand government today formed a six-member panel headed by Prayag Dutt Bhatt to review reconstruction and rehabilitation work in calamity-hit areas of the state and look into whether the norms followed for giving compensation were correct or needed revision.
Soon after constitution of the high-level committee, Bhatt held a meeting with senior officials of the Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre here to assess rehabilitation and reconstruction work conducted so far in the affected areas.
The panel will look into all aspects of reconstruction and rehabilitation and submit its recommendations to the state government in six months, Bhatt said.
"We will also see whether the compensation norms being followed are correct or need to be revised," he said.
