UIIC official convicted in DA case

A Development Officer of United India Insurance Company Ltd was today convicted in a disproportionate assets case by a CBI court here which sentenced him to two years imprisonment.

Based on an allegation, CBI registered a case against R Manimanravanan, a Development Officer of UIIC Ltd in Kancheepuram, who allegedly misappropriated the premium money collected from customers towards opening of policy, fabricated and forged cover notes and used it as genuine ones to substitute the misappropriated amounts.

CBI had filed a charge sheet against him under various sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

On completion of the trial, IX Additional Special Judge for CBI Cases G Saravanan sentenced him to two years rigorous imprisonment and further imposed a fine of Rs 15,000.
