The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh police has arrested a Ukrainian woman, who did not have valid visa documents, from Gorakhpur.

Acting on a tip-off that some foreign nationals were coming to India via Nepal without proper documents and that they were involved in illegal activities, the STF raided the Park Residency hotel and arrested the woman yesterday, an STF release said today.

The woman, Daria Molchan, told the STF personnel during interrogation that she had been visiting India for the last two years and her last visit was in December, 2017 to New Delhi, when she was told by the officials at the airport that she was blacklisted and was deported.

She also told the STF personnel about a friend of hers in Delhi, Imshan, who told her to go to Nepal, from where he would ensure her safe entry into India, the release said.

Molchan said about two weeks ago, Imshan had come to Nepal by car and brought her to India, driving through the villages on the border, the release added.

A fake driving licence, bearing the photograph of Molchan but issued in the name of Marina Aman Mehta, was seized from her possession.

Two passports, two mobile phones, one tablet computer, one i-pad and currency of the USA, Ukraine and India were also seized from her possession, the release said.
