Uncertainty over Pak participation in Asian Squash meet

The 19th Asian Individual Squash Championship begins here on April 26 but there is no certainty over the participation of Pakistan players as yet.

"We have not received any email message so far on this," championship director Cyrus Poncha said today about the reported visa problems faced by the Pakistan players.

"Should a problem arise and the Pakistan authorities inform us that their players are unable to make it, then the draw would be suitably adjusted because only one of their players is among top eight seeds," he told reporters.

Four Pakistani players feature in the draw with Farhan Mehboob seeded eighth.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani media report said Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) is considering pulling out of the championship after India's delay in issuing visas to the players.

It quoted sources as saying that Pakistan is now unlikely to travel for the championship because there's not much time left and it would be frustrating for the players to make last-moment arrangements.

The tournament features players from 12 countries, including from hosts India.
