An undertrial prisoner escaped from police custody when he was taken to a court for hearing at a town in the district, police said today.
Neeli Vamshi (27), a murder accused, was yesterday brought to the sessions court at Godavarikhani town from Karimnagar district jail for hearing in connection with the case.
However, before the hearing, Vamshi gave the police a slip and escaped from the court premises, apparently by climbing down its compound wall, an officer at Godavarikhani I-town police station said.
An intensive search was on to nab the prisoner, he said.
