Union Minister Birender Singh has described the INLD-BSP alliance a "mismatch", and said it was "doomed to fail" as had happened earlier.

He also dismissed the prospects of formation of a third front at the national level as "bleak".

"The alliance struck by the two parties (the INLD and the BSP) is a mismatch... it will also meet the same fate as witnessed earlier when the two had joined hands," the Union Steel Minister said here today, adding the alliance was doomed to fail.

The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the BSP entered into an alliance on April 18 and announced that both parties would jointly contest next year's Lok Sabha and Haryana Assembly polls.

To a question about the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Union minister said people will once again bring the BJP-led NDA back to power and asserted that the people like Prime Minister Narendra Modi's innovative thinking and capability to take bold decisions.

"The confidence that the youth has reposed in the prime minister shows that the younger generation wants development," Singh said.

Asked to comment on the resistance of some sarpanches to the e-panchayats system in Haryana, Singh said initially some faced problems in understanding the system.

He said initially apprehensions were there among people as to what would be impact of the Value Added Tax (VAT).

"But after its introduction, VAT emerged as a strong system of revenue growth. Similarly, e-panchayats system would not only ensure transparency but would also accelerate the pace of development," he told reporters.

Earlier, at a programme organised on the National Panchayati Raj day, the minister said the Centre has taken a significant decision to further strengthen the panchayats and funds for development purposes would now be directly credited to their bank accounts.

Meanwhile, a Haryana government release quoted Singh saying that a scrap factory would be established in the state.

According to the release, Singh also said that the Motor Vehicle Act (Amendment) Bill is pending in Parliament.

After passage of this bill, more than 15-year-old vehicles would not be able to run on the road, he said, adding the Union steel ministry would purchase 15-year-old vehicles by paying 15 per cent more than the market rate.
