UP govt directs officials to check slaughter of lactating

Uttar Pradesh government today issued stern directives to its officials to check slaughtering and illegal ferrying of lactating animals.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan has directed the officials from zone up to the thana level to identify the routes from which lactating animals are smuggled and take stern action on a priority basis, an official spokesperson here said.

Ranjan asked the officials responsible to conduct checks of slaughter houses and inspection of animal fairs and 'haats' in the state to ensure that all the rules were being followed.

He also directed the intelligence units to collect information in this connection and promptly pass it on to the officials concerned.
 

Ranjan said that in the review meetings at the district level, the review of such incidents should also be done with a view on its impact on the law and order situation and during normal checking, the checking of smuggling of such animals should also be undertaken.
