UP Min warns Jail officials of strict action for taking bribe

Uttar Pradesh Prison Minister Rajendra Chowdhury today warned jail officials of strict action if complaints about taking bribe from family members of inmates to fix meetings were made against them.

"No parallel system should be there (in jails)... If any complaint of taking bribe from family members of inmates for ensuring meeting came, strict action will be taken against jail officials," Chowdhury said while addressing a review meeting of the department here.

He said that prisoners should get good facilities, proper food and they should be treated with humanity, adding that no undue privilege should be given to influential inmates.
