Uttarkashi: Teenager raped by school teacher

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her school teacher in Uttarkashi district, a senior police official said today.

The teacher has been arrested and the girl was sent for a medical examination, SP Uttarkashi Dadan Pal said.

Lalit Kumar taught mathematics at Cheeva High School in Mori block of Uttarkashi and used to run a private tuition class for some students of his school at his home.

On July 26, he asked his students to return to their homes except the victim. He then allegedly raped her, the police complaint lodged by her father said.

"On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim's father, the accused has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act," Pal said.
