Vacant teacher posts to be filled soon: CM

: Chief Minister N.Rangasamy today said that the government has initiated steps to fill 900 posts of teachers and non-teaching staff posts in government schools and the postings would be completed in the next two months.

Presenting state-level and regional level Best Teachers awards to teachers on the occasion of Teachers Day,he said the government was aware of the vacancies and no step would be spared to fill them in the next two months.

The CM said the government was also intensifying efforts to start a PostGraduate course in the Indira Gandhi government medical college here soon.

He said teachers played a crucial role in moulding the destiny of the students under their care.
 

Electricity and Education Minister T Thiagarajan was among those who spoke.

Each of the 20 teachers who were presented the Dr S Radhakrishnan Awards and also the State level and regional level awards on the occasion was handed a cash of Rs 10,000.

Retired teachers and teachers who bagged the national awards in 2013 were also felicitated on the occasion.
