Villagers lynch man for kidnapping 5-year-old girl

A man was lynched by villagers in Seraikela-Kharswan district for allegedly kidnapping a five-year-old girl today, police said.

The girl was allegedly kidnapped by Motu Layek late last night at Sukhsari village, the police said.

The family members and villagers started searching for the girl and caught hold of Layek after the girl was found in his home with injuries.

The villagers severely beat up Layek for kidnapping the girl. Layek was rushed to the nearby health centre with critical injury, the sources said adding the doctor referred him to MGM Hospital here but doctors at MGM Hospital declared him brought dead.

Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Bansal denied that the girl was raped and kept under heap of sand by the accused.

The girl was abducted in her sleep last midnight and she was rescued couple of hours later from Layek's home, the SP said adding that the girl had suffered injury and we are investigating how it happened.
