An emotional party veteran L K Advani said the country had never witnessed such an election in its history and termed victory as a result of mainly the people's anger against corruption, misgovernance and dynastic rule and asked those in politics to draw lessons from the results.

"People who are in power in government and those who are in politics should also collectively analyse this result and take lessons," he said.

BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said, "This victory is the result of hard labour of millions of BJP karyakartas, blessings of Sangha and able leadership of Narendra Modi. We receive this mandate of people of India with humility and gratitude.
