The fact that various welfare schemes run by the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu are in line with those of the BJP-led government at the Centre does not mean the two parties would face the 2016 Assembly elections in alliance, a top state BJP leader said here today.

"Welfare schemes run by AIADMK government for development of the state are in line with that run by the BJP-led government at the Centre. However, this does not mean that the two parties will face the 2016 Assembly polls in alliance," BJP's state unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan told reporters here on the sidelines of a function.

The issue of political alliance during the 2016 election would be determined by the BJP at the national level, she said, adding that only those parties which accept the party's leadership would be accommodated in it.
