After starring in series of comedies like "Delhi Belly" and "Go Goa Gone", actor Vir Das is excited for his first intense role in Tigmanshu Dhulia's upcoming venture "Revolver Rani".

Vir, 34, is starring opposite "Tanu Weds Manu" star Kangana Ranaut in the film that is set in the Chambal valley.

"I got a call from Tigmanshu Dhulia saying he loved my work in 'Delhi Belly' and offered me this role. When I read the script, I asked him whether he was sure to cast me. Dhulia said he believed in casting an actor against his comfort zone. Working with his is very much new university for me," Vir told PTI on the sidelines of IIFA awards here.

The actor said his character demands a bevy of emotions for playing the role and Vir credits his co-star Kangana for helping him out.

"In a film, your co-star plays a very important role. Kangana is a great actress and that is helping me to better my act. She has got more experience than me in the film industry. The territories which we are shooting in and the range of human emotions we are going through are very disturbing. She is extremely accommodating and instinctual," he said.

Having started his career as a stand-up comedian, Vir had to unlearn his style of acting for Dhulia's revenge drama.

"When you are doing a lot of stage shows you are not inhibited and your body and voice are very free, you need to undo many such things. But I didn't have to unlearn much because I had a theatre background. It helped me understand the character well," he said.
