Woman commits suicide after being tortured by in-laws

Renuka Karol, mother of two, took the extreme step after being tortured by her mother-in-law Lali and brother-in-law Lalit since the time she got married, the victim's uncle R K Meena said.

Karol was living with Lali and Lalit's family while her husband, a BSNL employee, was posted in Sawai Madhopur district.

Meena claimed that Karol's husband had expressed his wish to take her and their children to Sawai Madhopur but both Lali and Lalit objected to it.

"Frustated by their behaviour, she took the extreme step," he said.

A case for abetment to suicide has been registered against Lali and Lalit and investigations are on.
