A woman was killed and another critically injured when a speeding bus hit them near Kaitola Chowk under Town police station area in Bihar's Madhubani district this evening, police said.
The mishap took place as a speeding bus ran over two women fatally trapping one of the them under rear wheel of the vehicle, police said.
The victim was identified as Rita Devi (30), they said.
The injured woman Bhulli Devi (60) was admitted to a government hospital for treatment, police said.
Meanwhile, the local people blocked road at Kaitola Chowk demanding compensation for the victim and the injured, they said, adding that senior police officers rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, police said, adding the bus driver and cleaner escaped after abandoning the vehicle.
