A 32-year-old woman today allegedly killed her daughter by hanging her from a ceiling fan before committing suicide in their house over a petty dispute with her husband here, police said.
The woman identified as Swati Patel also hanged her 3-year-old son Aaryan to the ceiling fan, but he survived.
"The incident occurred in Dindoli area after Swati had an altercation with her husband over buying a scooter", said inspector K G Limbachiya of Dindoli Police station.
While Swati and her 2-year-old daughter Aarvi were found dead, Aaryan was admitted to a local hospital and his condition was stated to be stable, the official said.
A suicide note was recovered from the house in which Swati mentioned of being depressed with her husband over a dispute of buying a scooter for the family, he said.
The suicide-note also stated that though Swati loved her husband she was unhappy and became impatient over the long-time dispute to buy a new scooter, Limbachiya added.
A case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered and investigations are underway, police said.
