A 32-year-old woman Maoist, operating along the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border, surrendered in Telangana's Nalgonda district today.

Sheikh Jan Bi, who was working as a area-committee member in Odisha's Malkangiri district, surrendered before the police due to ill-health, Nalgonda Superintendent of Police A V Ranganath told PTI.

The woman, carrying a reward of Rs 4 lakh, joined the Maoists in 2004 and worked in different 'dalams' of Telangana before shifting to Odisha.

She was involved in over half-a-dozen firing incidents on the police, the SP said, adding that she was a native of Uttapalli village of the district.
