A 24-year-old woman travelling on a Kollam-Madurai train was allegedly relieved of a part of her gold chain, at Kumarapuram station near Kovilpatti, about 90 kms from here, early today, police said.
The passenger divya, who was travelling with her husband, woke up and raised an alarm, when an unidentified person attempted to snatch her four sovereign gold chain.
However, the man made good his escape with six gms of the chain, in the cover of darkness, by the time her husband and other passengers got up to her cries.
A case has been registered, police said.
