Woman strangulated to death over dowry

A woman was allegedly killed by her husband and in-laws over dowry at Sekhwan village here today.

Amandeep Kaur was allegedly strangulated to death by her husband Hardeep Singh and in-laws, SHO Sukhpal Singh said.

She was married with Hardeep around three years back and they had a six-month old son, the police official said.

According to the complaint made by Amandeep's father Sawinder, Hardeep and his family members killed for failing to bring a dowry of Rs 5 lakh.

On Sawinder's complaint, a case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered against Hardeep, his father Sukhwinder and mother Veer Kaur.
 

The accused persons were absconding, Sukhpal said.
