Woman tortured for dowry

A woman has accused her in-laws and husband of torturing her for dowry in Bhupani area, police said.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, Kavita Sharma, a resident of Hanuman Nagar, she was married to one Anup on May 20, 2013, said Investigating Officer Keemti Lal.

But soon after her marriage her husband and in-laws started physically and mentally torturing her for bringing less dowry.

Kavita has named her husband Anup, father-in-law Sunderlal, mother-in-law, Mithlesh, and brothers-in-laws Anup, Sonu and Amit as accused in the case in a complaint filed yesterday.

Sharma alleged her husband used to ask for a car as well as Rs 1 lakh in cash and she was threatened with dire consequences if the deamnds were not met, police said.
 

A case was registered under sections 498A, 406, 323 and 506 of IPC.

The police are investigating the matter and are yet to make arrests in the case.
