The Congress would ensure safety and security of women and give them adequate representation in the party, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu today said.
Addressing Mahila Congress workers of Shimla, Theog and Kusumpati blocks, he reiterated his party's stand to provide adequate representation and security to women in the state.
"Over the years, the Congress governments have enacted several laws to empower women and to facilitate speedy trial in cases of sexual assault," Sukkhu said, adding that the UPA government had fulfilled its commitments towards women and had recently launched India's first ever all-women bank.

He said the Congress would provide equal opportunities to women in the state, which will also strengthen the party.
Lashing out at BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi over the alleged snooping on a women, Sukkhu said it reflects the mindset of people towards women.
