About 100 sanitary workers today laid near siege of a city police station, seeking immediate action against a person who had assaulted their colleague a couple of days ago.
The workers, who gathered in front of Singanallur police station, claimed that their colleague, Kanagaraj was assaulted by one Marimuthu, following some argument, needing his hospitalisation on December 10.
Despite complaint and Kanagaraj already discharged from the hospital, police has not taken any action against Marimuthu and they are picketing the station, seeking immediate action against the attacker.
Senior officials assured to take action against Marimuthu, after which the workers, including a few women, dispersed, police said.
