Youth arrested for objectionable WhatsApp post against ulemas

A youth was arrested from a village in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district for allegedly posting objectionable comments against ulemas on WhatsApp, police said today.

An ulema is a body of Muslim scholars who have specialised knowledge of Islamic sacred law and theology.

A case was registered against the accused, who was arrested yesterday from Chandsina village in Khatauli area of the district, for hurting religious sentiments, a police official said.
