Youth arrested in 4-yr-old girl's murder

A youth has been arrested for allegedly bludgeoning a four-year-old girl to death after she resisted his rape attempts three days ago in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, the police said today.

During investigation, Ayub (22) was apparently found involved in the incident. He was arrested from Khatauli town last evening, said Omveer Singh, superintendent of police (City).

The SP claimed that the accused had confessed to stoning the girl to death, after the victim started shouting when he allegedly tried to rape him.

The body of the girl was found in a vacant plot in Khatauli on Friday evening. A brick with blood on it was found from the spot, a police officer had said.
