Youth arrested under PSA in Samba

District Magistrate Mubarak Singh issued orders for the detention of Mohd Iqbal, a Gujjar youth and resident of Madhera village, under PSA on the recommendations of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, police said.

Iqbal has been accused of repeatedly indulging in stealing and smuggling bovines in the district, they said.

In the last two years, incidents of bovine smuggling has evoked violent protests and demonstrations by locals, they said.
