Youth gets 10 years in jail for rape

A fast track court has sentenced a youth to ten years imprisonmentfor raping a 16- year-old girl in May, 2010.

Additional District Sessions Judge Manoj Mishra also imposed a fine of 15,000 on the convict, Saleem, yesterday.

According to prosecution, Saleem entered his neighbour's house and raped the girl on May 28, 2010. The victim's mother had filed a complaint against him.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man, identified as Bahadur Singh, allegedly attempted to rape a five-year-old girl in the district hospital compound here yesterday, police said.

Singh has been arrested and a case registered against him, it said.
