A man allegedly shot at a Haryana police official, injuring him severely after taking a lift in the cop's car Thursday, officials said.
The attack on Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar Sheoran of Haryana Police took place near Balawas village, about 20 km from here, they said.
According to police, Sheoran, a former chowki in-charge of Azad Nagar Hisar, was going towards his native Dhani Todi village in Toshan (Bhiwani) in his private car.
When he reached near Balawas on the Hisar-Toshan road, a man asked him for a lift, they said.
The youth sat next to him and after the car travelled a few kilometres, suddenly fired at him, they added.
Sheoran was admitted to a private hospital here and his condition was stated to be critical, officials said.
Police have registered a case and launched investigations.
