A team of scientists from Itanagar regional centre of Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), has discovered a new specie of fish from remote Anjaw district recently.
The specie belonging to genus Physoschistura has been discovered by the survey team of the ZSI from Lohit River at Walong in the district, an official communique said here today.
Lakpa Tamang, who along with Bikramjit Sinha led the survey team, described the new specie and designated the name as Physoschistura Walongensis in remembrance of the area Walong.

Till date, Tamang has contributed 10 new species from various water bodies of the state.
He was also hopeful of the existence of more new species in the remote areas of the state, the communique added.
