Sonias Decision Can Go Either Way, Says Digvijay

BSCAL

Congress president Sonia Gandhi may announce her decision shortly on the report of the Rajesh Pilot committee which went into the causes of the partys poor performance in the last Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh.

Stating this at a press conference here yesterday Chief Minister Digvijay Singh said her decision could go either way. He did not elaborate further.

Asked if his meeting with Gandhi on Sunday indicated his continuation in office, he said How can I say that? The Chief Minister said he was unaware of the contents of the report.

He said the campaign for his removal was being carried out only in the press and claimed that no senior Congress leaders from the state were involved in the drive to oust him. None of the senior Congress leaders who were reported to be campaigning against him had ever issued a statement demanding his removal, he said. In response to a question, Digvijay Ssingh said the issue of his removal was not discussed at all at the meeting of senior Congress leaders from the state with CWC member Ahmed Patel in Delhi on Saturday.
