Comic-actor John Mulaney has been roped in to star in upcoming period drama "Dickinson".
The Apple TV Plus series will see Hailee Steinfeld in the title role of the acclaimed 19th century poet Emily Dickinson.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Mulaney will play essayist-philosopher Henry David Thoreau.
No additional details about the "SNL" star's role as the "Walden" author were available currently.
The series is a comedic take on Dickinson's world, exploring the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of a budding writer who does not fit in her era due to her imaginative point of view.
Rapper-actor Wiz Khalifa stars in a guest role as 'Death'.
David Gordon Green is attached to direct and executive produce, with Alena Smith as creator.
The show debuts on November 1 on the new streaming service.

Deepika Padukone says the conversation around mental health awareness may have opened up a lot in recent years but there is still a long way to go.
The actor, who is the founder of The Live Love Laugh Foundation, was in the capital for the initiative's inaugural 'Lecture Series' to discuss the stigma surrounding mental health.
"As far as the conversation around the causes of mental health is concerned, I think we've come a long way. But we certainly have a long way to go in terms of creating more awareness...
"I think the conversation has opened up. I don't think that there's as much stigma as it used to be four years ago," Deepika told reporters here on Sunday.
The "Padmaavat" star was diagnosed with clinical depression in 2014 and went public about it next year.
In 2015, she launched the foundation to create awareness around mental health.

"Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi's anti-hate satire, "Jojo Rabbit", which divided critics here, has won the sought-after People's Choice  Award of the 44th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Bollywood editor Sanjib Datta who worked on films like "Dor", "Mardani", "Iqbal", "Ek Hasini Thi" passed away on Sunday.
He was 54. Datta, who was based in Kolkata for the last couple of years, was an alumnus of FTII. He was a long-time collaborator of filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor, working as an editor in almost all his films.
Nagesh, who's currently in Canada, confirmed his demise.
"I've been told he went in for a bypass surgery a few days ago but never came back. I am gathering more information. His death is devastating. He was the last of Renu Saluja school. She trained so many people but no one carried her legacy the way he did.
"In fact, Renu was editing 'Bollywood Calling' when she passed away. So he finished the editing but never took credit," Nagesh told PTI.
Datta has been credited for editing more than 80 films, including Hindi and Bengali. He worked with filmmakers like Kundan Shah, Sriram Raghvan, Pradeep Sarkar among others.

"Rang De Basanti" writer Kamlesh Pandey on Sunday said he was so driven to make the Aamir Khan-starrer that he took on the job for "very less" remuneration.
In his career of over 30 years, Pandey has penned blockbusters and acclaimed films like "Saudagar", "Tezaab" and "Delhi 6".
At a session organised by the Screenwriters Association (SWA), Pandey said today there is a new plan which ensures fair pay to writers.
"Actors set their own fees, so a writer should also set his/her fees according to how hard one has worked. For example, I took about a year to write 'Rang De Basanti' and it took six years for it to be a final film. The money I got, the spot boy would've got paid more," Pandey said.
"I don't feel sad about that though. I agreed because I wanted to make this film at any cost. It was my decision because I could afford to do that. That I could work for less money," he added.
The writer said money was not a factor for him in his initial days as he was cushioned by an advertising .

Norman Lear made history by becoming the oldest Emmy winner at the age of 97.
The television icon registered a win at the Creative Arts Emmys in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for "Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear's 'All in the Family' And 'The Jeffersons'".
He accepted the award with fellow executive producer Jimmy Kimmel.
"Thank you, thank you, and holy sh*t," laughed Lear, who executive produced and wrote the special.
"I got a great reaction, saying that when opening a Christmas present when I was seven years old. It's 90 years later, and I feel much the same," he said, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.

Seventy-six years after the INA  soldiers sang the song to welcome Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose  when he returned to Singapore, Sonu Nigam has lent his voice  to its 're-arranged original sound track' in an upcoming film  by national award-winning director Srijit Mukherji.
'Gumnaami', to be released on October 2, is based on  the three theories surrounding Bose's disappearance after the  1945 plane crash at Taihoku in Japan.
"Sonu Nigam brings forth the spirit of the song  'Subhasji' to the audience. This is our way to pay tribute to  the great leader of the country," Director Mukherji told  reporters at the launch of the track on Sunday.
Mukherji said the music used in the film is the  original soundtrack by the Indian National Army (INA) and has  been rearranged by music director Indraadip Dasgupta, who  helmed the soundscape of the film.

There was something about being a 'loser' that didn't let Nitesh Tiwari and his team of writers  Piyush Gupta and Nikhil Mehrotra  go of the idea of "Chhichhore" for six years.
It was the question: why is failing not celebrated enough and success given precedence over trying?
The college-buddy-drama, featuring an ensemble cast including Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Sharma, released last week to acclaim and encouraging box office numbers.
The film shifts the spotlight from succeeding at any cost to failing, and moving on.
"Celebrating failures was always there. The depiction of it evolved over time," Nitesh says.
In an interview with PTI, the trio say they deliberated on how to depict failure on screen and what mode to use to express it creatively.

According to Variety, Showtime has pushed back the premiere of the new chapter by a week.
The upcoming installment picks up six months after last season finale as William H Macy's Frank uses his leg injury to gather as many prescription drugs as possible.
The 10th season also features Emma Kenney, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton and Steve Howey.

Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar spent their weekend discussing their upcoming much-anticipated collaboration, "Takht".

Celebrated author Paulo Coelho has recommended "Sacred Games" to his Twitter followers and lauded actor Nawazuddin Siddqui's work in the Netflix India Original series.
Coelho on Saturday took to the microblogging site where he shared the link to the show, which also stars Saif Ali Khan.
"One of the best series on Netflix, with the great actor @Nawazuddin_S," the bestselling writer said.
Nawazuddin wrote back to Coelho, saying he read his book "The Alchemist" and also watched the film "Veronika Decides to Die" based on the writer's novel of the same name.

Acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan, along with actor Robert Pattinson, is in the city to shoot for their upcoming action epic "Tenet".
The director-actor duo arrived in Mumbai on Saturday.
According to photographs surfaced on social media, Nolan was spotted at the airport.

Though the shooting schedule of the project has been kept under wraps, Nolan will reportedly film "Tenet" for around 10 days in the Maharashtrian capital.

"Saturday Night Live" alum Bobby Moynihan is joining Tina Fey's new comedy project, with Ted Danson in the lead.
The untitled show marks Moynihan's return to NBC after leaving "SNL" in 2017.
The comedy will feature Danson as a wealthy businessman who runs for mayor of Los Angeles for all the wrong reasons.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Moynihan will play Jayden, the interim director of communications in the mayor's office.
Fey will write and produce alongside Robert Carlock.
