Chiwetel Ejiofor has been roped in to star alongside Mark Wahlberg in action thriller "Infinite".
According to Variety, Ejiofor will play a member of the Infinite - who are near immortals compiling experiences and skills over lifetimes into near superhuman abilities.
To be directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film has also cast Dylan O'Brien and Sophie Cookson.
The movie is based on D Eric Maikranz's novel "The Reincarnationist Papers", which focuses on the Cognomina, a secret society of people who possess total recall of their past lives. A troubled young man haunted by memories of two past lives stumbles upon the centuries-old society and decides to join their ranks.
Chris Evans was set to topline the project earlier but had to quit due to scheduling conflict.
Ian Shorr is adapting the book for the screen.
The Paramount Pictures' project will be produced by John Zaozirny alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian for Di Bonaventura Pictures.

The fifth season of the Emmy-nominated sitcom "Schitt's Creek" is set to start streaming from October 10, Netflix announced on Wednesday.
The streamer shared the news on its See What's Next Twitter page.
"#SchittsCreek Season 5 is coming to Netflix US on October 10! Great news for bebe," the tweet read.
The show revolves around the wealthy Rose family members who lose their fortune and are forced to move to the backwoods town of Schitt's Creek, a locale father Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy) purchased for his son David (Daniel Levy) as a gag gift.
Co-created by Daniel and Eugene Levy, the series also stars Catherine O'Hara and Annie Murphy.
The sixth season, which is slated to air in 2020, will be the final season.
"Schitt's Creek" received four Emmy nods for comedy series, lead actress for O'Hara, lead actor for Eugene and contemporary costume design.

Tamil movie "Maadathy-an Unfairy Tale", directed by leena Manimekalai, will have its world premiere at the upcoming Busan International Film Festival.

Actor Sonakshi Sinha on Tuesday voiced her concern over the proposed felling of over 2,600 trees in the Aarey suburban area to make way for a Metro car shed and said people should unite to save the planet.
The Tree Authority of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently gave its nod to cut over 2,600 trees for a Metro car shed in the Aarey Colony adjoining suburban Goregaon, which is known as the major green lung of the city.
When asked about the same, Sonakshi told reporters, "I am completely against the cutting of trees, I am all for planting trees, preserving forests and nature. I think we all should join hands, take it up as a challenge and save our planet."

Joaquin Phoenix, whose "Joker" is creating Oscar buzz, has said that his acting career would not have been possible without his late brother, River Phoenix.
Phoenix was one of the two actors to be presented with the TIFF Tribute Actor Award and he took his time on the stage to remember people who contributed to his career.
"When I was 15 or 16 my brother River (Phoenix) came home from work and he had a VHS copy of a movie called 'Raging Bull' and he sat me down and made me watch it. And the next day he woke me up, and he made me watch it again. Actors Amanda Peet and Christian Slater are set to star in the second season of "Dirty John".
The second instalment of the anthology series, based on a true story, will air on USA Network. It will be titled "Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story".
According to Deadline, Peet will play Broderick, a Southern California wife who murders her husband Dan (Slater) and his mistress-turned-wife Linda in 1989.
Season one was based on the popular podcast and starred Connie Britton as a woman manipulated by a con artist, played by Eric Bana.
"The first season of the show was a story of twisted love and coercive control  and both these insidious elements are also present in and integral to the story of Betty Broderick, whom I have wanted to write about since I became a writer. During India Breakfast Networking session, hosted by Information and Broadcasting Ministry on the side-line of its participation at TIFF, Bailey praised India for making cinema in different styles, languages and flavours.
He highlighted the richness of Indian cinema with different styles, languages and regional flavours which are reflected in the large scale musicals, animations, serious dramas, comedies and other genres of films produced in the country.
Bailey also stated that there is no country in the world that makes films like India does.
At the session, the Indian Delegation apprised the participants about friendly policy initiatives and framework for filming in India and also on the process and procedure for obtaining clearance for shooting through single window mechanism at Film Facilitation Office.

The Screenwriters Association (SWA) and Cine and Television Artistes Association (CINTAA) are signing a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) to address and resolve all issues their members face in the industry.
The two organisations felt the need to combat problems common to both after Alok Nath's refusal to respond to Indian Film and Television Director Association (IFTDA) after writer-director Vinta Nanda accused the actor of rape in the wake of the #MeToo movement in India.
Sushant Singh, general secretary, CINTAA, said the association are the back bones of the industry and can work more effectively together.
"With a lot of members from CINTAA and SWA turning producers, there are chances of conflict. The idea is for both associations to form joint committees to address complaints. Together, they will have more power, be respected and feared more," Singh said in a statement.

Screenwriters, actor's association to fight issues, including sexual harassment

Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer "Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan" will hit the theatres on March 13, 2020.
The announcement was made on Tuesday after the team started the shoot of the film.
"Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan", a sequel to the quirky comedy "Shubh Mangal Savdhaan", is directed by Hitesh Kewalya.
The film, produced by Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, will address a socially relevant story revolving around a same sex couple.
"Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan! Lock your date 13th March 2020," the post on the official page of Colour Yellow Productions read.

Kirti Kulhari says she is always in search for roles that can help her leave the comfort zone that her past performance has become.
The actor, who followed her breakthrough role in "Shaitaan" with critically-lauded turns in "Pink", "Uri" and most recently, "Mission Mangal", is playing a Balochi woman in Netflix's "Bard of Blood", which she says gave her the opportunity to push herself more.

Filmmaker Rodrigo Bellott's controversial gay drama "Tu Me Manques" has been picked by Bolivia as the country's official entry for the International Feature category Academy Award.
The movie, based on Bellott's play, beat 11 other local films in the competition, reported Variety.
"By supporting my film despite the controversy, Bolivia has proven that it is a progressive country, and that in the end, art and cinema will prevail," said Bellott.
This is Bellot's second feature to be selected for the Oscars, after his breakout film "Sexual Dependency".
"Tu Me Manques" features Argentine actor Oscar Martinez and Spanish actress Almodovar muse Rossy de Palma.

HBO has renewed its comedy series "Righteous Gemstones" for season two.
The show is currently in the middle of its first season.
The series focuses on a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of "deviance, greed, and charitable work".
Danny McBride is the creator of the series, and also stars in it alongside John Goodman, Edi Patterson, Adam Devine Walton Goggins, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Cavalero, Tim Baltz and Greg Alan Williams.

Country singer Brad Paisley is set to star in Amazon comedy series "Fish Out of Water".
According to Vareity, Paisley is also executive producing the half-hour comedy series which has received a script commitment at Amazon.
The show will give a behind-the-scenes look at Paisley's struggle to keep a simple little fishing show from turning into a disaster like Fyre Festival.

Actor Omari Hardwick is in final negotiations to star in Paramount Players thriller "Spell".
The news comes close to the finale of his hit crime drama "Power".
"Hush" helmer Mark Tonderai will direct "Spell", reported Variety.
The story follows a man (Hardwick) who crashes his plane while en route to rural Appalachia with his family for a funeral and awakens to find himself totally alone.
"Relieved to be discovered by a seemingly kind elderly couple, he has no way of knowing the dark machinations that lie in wait as he is pulled deeper and deeper into a sinister world," the plot line read.
Kurt Wimmer has penned the script.
He will also produce the project along with Gordon Gray, Morris Chestnut and Brian Wilkins.

Actor Hailee Steinfeld is in talks with Marvel Studios to join its upcoming "Hawkeye" series.
According to Variety, Steinfeld is being considered for a lead role in the series.
The limited series will see actor Jeremy Renner reprising the role of the titular bow-wielding hero, which he played in a series of Marvel movies including "Avengers: Endgame".
Jonathan Igla is on board to write and executive produce the series.

A fresh controversy has erupted  over director Srijit Mukherji's latest flick with 32 members  of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's family claiming that the  filmmaker has altered the movie's name from 'Gumnami Baba' to  'Gumnaami' to get the Censor Board's clearance.
The upcoming film has already raked up controversies  for delving into theories over Bose's 'disappearance'.
The director, who had on Sunday screened the film's  trailer at the office of All India Forward Bloc - the party  founded by Bose - termed the charges levelled by some of the  descendants of the freedom fighter as "untrue".

"Isn't It Romantic" filmmaker Todd Strauss-Schulson is in negotiations to direct action-comedy "Zombie Brother".
The movie, from STX Films and China-based Tencent Pictures, is an adaptation of Tencent's digital comic book of the same name, reported Variety.
"Todd is the perfect choice for 'Zombie Brother'. His films thrive with a heart, energy, comic pace and visual inventiveness all their own," said STX Films chairman Adam Fogelson.
