Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is all set to attend 'Cinema Beyond Boundaries', a filmmaking meet in New York that will take place from September 27 to 29.
	The three-day event would focus on the global influence of Indian cinema, forecast changes in the fast growing and rapidly evolving filmmaking industry.
	Actors, directors, writers and music directors would gather to share how it is to make cinema by blending different cultures and to bring them beyond the Indian Diaspora.
	"Indian cinema is no more limited to audiences in India. We have viewers all around the world and hence understanding the global perspective is a must. Cinema Beyond Boundaries would get the viewers and the filmmakers together and would help us in serving them with good quality cinema," Bhandarkar said in a statement.

South superstar Kamal Hassan will be honoured with the lifetime achievement award at the 15th Mumbai Film Festival to be held here next month.
	The Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI) festival will present this award to the filmmaker-actor for his immense contribution to cinematic excellence.
	"This year we have decided to present lifetime achievement award to Kamal Hassan and famed French filmmaker Costa Gavras for their extraordinary work in the field of cinema," filmmaker and Chairman of MAMI, Shyam Benegal said here.

Kamal Hassan to receive lifetime achievement award at MAMI

A lawyer for Michael Jackson's family told jurors that concert promoter AEG Live should pay USD 85 million per child for the singer's death in 2009.
	In his concluding argument in the five-month long wrongful death trial that the Jackson family has brought against AEG Live, lawyer Brian Panish said that concert promoters should have to pay non-economic or personal damages of USD 85 million to each of Jackson's three children and USD 35 million to his mother Katherine, reported the Los Angeles Times.
	It is for the first time the family has placed a number on the damages that they are seeking from AEG.
	Panish showed jurors a slide that reminded the panel that an expert witness testified the singer would have earned USD 1.2 billion to USD 1.6 billion if he had lived, from new music, tours, endorsements and a Las Vegas show.

Kurt Cobain's mother Wendy O'Connor is selling the late musician's childhood house for USD 500,000.
	The house, assessed at less than USD 67,000, was listed for USD 500,000. The star's mattress is also sold along with the 1.5-story bungalow, which is located in Aberdeen, two hours southwest of Seattle, reported Aceshowbiz.
	Some pictures of the late Nirvana frontman were released to push the sale. One photo shows Cobain and his sister as children, while another photo shows him playing piano in the house. Another photo shows young Cobain playing a guitar in his messy room, while another snap shows Cobain as a child posing with his chocolate-coated birthday cake.
	Cobain's parents bought the house when he was 2. He lived there until his parents divorced when he was 9. According to a real-estate firm which markets the house, The Agency, the house was last lived in by a family friend four years ago.

For the first time in the city, physically-challenged people will join other revellers at a three-day long inclusive Dandiya dance event during the Navratri festival next month.
	The 'Dandiya Mela 2013' to be held at the Milan Mela grounds from October 11 will see differently-abled people including students dancing with sticks on wheelchairs.
	"With this dance event, we will stand in solidarity for physically-challenged people and prove that we want a society which is inclusive and respects all sections. When we all make merry we don't want the differently-abled section of our society to be left out in a corner," Ankit Agarwal and Prerna Kothari, co-organisers of the event, told reporters.
	The dandiya is being organised jointly by event management and consultancy firm Media Connect along with the NGO National Institute of Professionals which works for the rights of the disabled.

Real life couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan will be teaming up for producer Gaurang Doshi's Bollywood comeback venture 'Happy Anniversary'.
	Gaurang, who produced Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal-starrer 'Aankhen' in 2002 and 'Deewaar' (2004), also starring the senior Bachchan, is making a comeback with two Bollywood projects in pipeline.

Socialite Brooke Mueller has been caught on a video smoking substance out of a glass pipe.
	The video also shows actor Charlie Sheen's ex-wife scoring a USD 1,500 crystal methamphetamine deal, reported Radar online.
	In the video, Mueller is seen lighting and inhaling the substance which is believed to be crack cocaine. She is wearing a brown robe and her hair is unkempt.
	She can be heard asking, "Where is the crystal? I am giving you USD 1500."
	The video apparently was taken days before she lost custody of her twins in May.
	Authorities removed her sons Max and Bob from her care earlier this year after they deemed the house unsafe for the children because of her addiction.
	The boys are currently under the care of Sheen's other ex, Denise Richards.
	Mueller is fighting to regain custody of her sons. She will take random drug tests and appear in front of judge to discuss her recovery.

Fox is developing a pre-Batman TV series that will focus on the origin of Gotham commissioner James Gorden.
	The origins tale centering on the DC Comics fixture comes to the network from Warner Bros Television.
	 The series will be executive produced and written by 'The Mentalist' showrunner Bruno Heller.
	Apart from showing the history behind Gordon, the show will also focus on the villains of Gotham city. Since it chronicles events before Gordon meets Batman, the superhero will not be part of the series -- but Gordon's roots in the Batman universe go quite deep.
	The commissioner was famously portrayed by Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan's trilogy.

	The veteran actor had been kept in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.
	"He is much better (now) and hence we have decided to take him home. He is recovering quite well... He is having food on his own. He will be discharged tomorrow," sources close to the actor told PTI.

The fourth 'Jagran' Film Festival commenced here with the screening of an international cinematic project 'Water' which also marked its Asian premiere.
    'Water' is a unique project made by filmmakers from the conflict zone of Israel and Palestine and tells seven stories with seven short films.
     The six-day festival kicked off last evening at the Fun Republic Cinema in Andheri, with actors Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur (of 'The Lunch Box' fame) lighting the lamp.

Jagran Fest kicks off with Israeli-Palestinian film 'Water'

A major fire broke out on the sets of TV show "Comedy Nights with Kapil" at Goregaon Film city this morning.
	There were no casualties in the fire that broke out at 8.15 AM. Four fire engines, five tankers and an ambulance have been rushed to the spot, fire brigade officials said.
	It was brought under control. The officials of Colors channel later said that no shooting was taking place when the incident happened.
	The extent of the damage and cause of the fire are yet to be ascertained.
	"It is unfortunate that such an incident has occurred on the sets of 'Comedy Nights With Kapil'. There have been no casualties and we are currently in the process of assessing the extent of the damage," channel's spokesperson said.
	"We are focusing all our efforts to resume shooting for the show so that we have no disruption and we don't disappoint our loyal viewers," the spokesperson added.

As many as 25 classical music students in Qatar will get an opportunity to attend legendary singer K J Yesudas's concert for free.
	Carnatic music students will be able to listen to 'Yesudas @ Doha', a classical concert on October 11 at the Qatar National Convention Centre, according to a news report.
	Interested students have been asked to submit a letter from the music institute they are studying to the organisers of the concert.
	"Twenty-five children will be allowed to listen to Dr Yesudas for free and if he agrees they would be able to get his blessings as well," Mohammed Al Shamlan, Managing Director, Marzook Al Salman and Sons, said in the presence of Yesudas.
	Yesudas has recorded more than 50,000 songs in many languages. His concert will be a repertoire of famous Indian classical tunes. The concert is expected to attract around 2,000 people from Tamil and Malayalam communities in the country.
