Social media was abuzz with the excitement around the five state Assembly elections and as the results started trickling in, Twitterati were ready with many hashtags.

Since morning, ElectionResults was trending and was being used by many media houses. It was followed by Elections2017 in the afternoon. The Bharatiya Janata Party had a spectacular show in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand by getting a three-fourth majority.

Even senior leaders like Mayawati, Harish Rawat trended on Twitter after their parties fared badly in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand respectively. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat lost from both the seats and Congress managed to win only 11 seats. Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party only won 19 seats in the 403-member Assembly.

The star of the show was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's right hand and BJP chief Amit Shah. "People have risen above Hindu-Muslim politcs and have voted for development," Shah said at a democracy.
