SGPC expresses concern over Canada's allegations against India

The SGPC Monday expressed concern over the allegations levelled by Canada against India over the killing of a Khalistani leader, saying that "everything said by the prime minister in the Parliament of any country cannot be rejected easily".
 

In a special resolution passed in the executive meeting presided over by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Harjinder Singh Dhami, it was said that “the statement given by the Prime Minister in the Parliament of any country is not understood as common, rather considered to be fact-based within the scope of the dignity of the concerned country's constitution”.

‘Ghar Ghar Congress' campaign launched in Odisha

The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Monday launched ‘Ghar Ghar Congress' campaign to reach out to voters ahead of the simultaneous Lok Sabha and state assembly polls.
 

The drive has been launched to create awareness among voters about the failures of the BJD government in power in the state for 23 years and the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, PCC campaign committee chairman Bijay Patnaik said.

It will continue till October 15, he said.

Govt allows 75,000 tons non-basmati white rice exports to UAE

The Indian government on September 25 said it has permitted exports of 75,000 tonnes of non-basmati white rice to UAE. The export is permitted through National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL), the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.

Punjab Police raids places linked to Lakhbir Landa's associates in Ferozepur

The Punjab Police conducted raids at 48 places linked to close associates of Canada-based terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa alias Landa Harike, an official said on Monday. The action comes after a trader was attacked by two assailants on September 21.The trader had said that he received a call from someone who claimed to be Landa Harike and demanded Rs 15 lakh. Superintendent of Police Randhir Kumar said separate police teams conducted raids in Makhu, Zira, Guruharsahai and other places. A few people were also arrested. Landa's name had figured in connection with the RPG attack at Sarhali police station in Tarn Taran.

Create Khalistan within Canada, says BJP leader Jai Bhagwan Goyal to Canada PM Trudeau

United Hindu Front working president and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jai Bhagwan Goyal on Sunday slammed Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and asked him to break up a part of Canada to form a new Khalistan country if he supported the "anti-India Khalistanis."

 

"If the Prime Minister of Canada loves Khalistanis so much, then why doesn't he break up a part of Canada and create a new Khalistan country? We will be the first to give him recognition," said Jai Bhagwan Goyal.

 

This comes amid worsening bilateral ties with New Delhi in the wake of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s allegation of Indian involvement in the killing of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

India to auction J&K lithium reserves in few weeks, say government sources

India's federally administered region of Jammu and Kashmir will auction its lithium reserves over the next few weeks, a government source with close knowledge of the matter said on Monday. India, which has been exploring ways to secure supplies of lithium, a critical raw material used to make electric vehicle batteries, in February found its first lithium deposits in Jammu and Kashmir with estimated reserves of 5.9 million tonnes. "The auction will happen soon and some overseas miners have shown interest," the source said, declining to be identified because of the sensitive nature of discussions.
