Op Sindoor showed India's firm stand against terror: PM hails armed forces

Prime Minister Modi also changed his display picture on X to "Operation Sindoor" as a tribute to the courage and valour of the Indian armed forces on the anniversary of the military operation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that Operation Sindoor reflected India's firm response against terrorism and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding the national security.

 

On the first anniversary of the military offensive against military and terror Infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, the prime minister said a year later, India remains as steadfast as ever in its resolve to defeat terrorism and destroy its enabling ecosystem. 

Meanwhile, PM Modi also changed the display pictures on his social media handles to mark the one year of the Operation Sindoor, which started this day a year ago.

The profile picture of Modi on his handles on X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp channel have been changed to an image with the text 'Operation Sindoor' on a black background. The picture has a tricolour, with one of the 'O's of 'SINDOOR' filled with vermilion or sindoor -- a symbol of married Hindu women.

 

Modi said a year ago, Indian armed forces displayed unparalleled courage, precision and resolve during the Operation Sindoor.

 

He said the forces gave a fitting response to those who dared to attack innocent Indians at Pahalgam and the entire nation salutes the Indian forces for their valour.

 

"Operation Sindoor reflected India's firm response against terrorism and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security. It also highlighted the professionalism, preparedness and coordinated strength of our armed forces," he said in a post on X.

 

At the same time, Modi said, it showcased the growing jointness among India security forces and underlined the strength that India's quest for self-reliance in the defence sector has brought to the country's national security. 

  President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday said that Operation Sindoor is a defining testament to India's unwavering resolve against terrorism and that the country stands vigilant, united and prepared to respond with strength to those who seek to threaten "Bharat".

"The extraordinary success of this mission reflects the unmatched courage and determination of our armed forces. The brutal attack at Pahalgam was met with befitting and exemplary precision," Murmu said in a post on X.

"Operation Sindoor stands as a defining testament to India's unwavering resolve against terrorism and all forces that threaten our sovereignty and the safety of our citizens," she said on the military strikes' first anniversary.

Those who seek to threaten Bharat must know that our nation stands vigilant, united, and prepared to respond with strength, the president said.

"Today, the nation salutes the indomitable bravery, sacrifice and professionalism of our soldiers," she said.  Operation Sindoor was carried out by the three defence forces along with the BSF along the western border, targeting terrorist and military facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir from May 7-10, 2025.  This operation was carried out in retaliation to the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed.
