The world's biggest exporter of onions banned shipments on Dec. 8 after domestic prices more than doubled in three months following a drop in production.
The decline is brought out not by the decline in agricultural GVA but a rapid expansion in industrial and service sector GVA, Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda said

According to the official, differentiation in the quantum of purchase of wheat and rice through the e-auction route has also been made for big and small processing units
"No diversion of sugarcane juice and B heavy molasses is allowed for production of rectified spirit and extra neutral alcohol," the directive said
"A quota will soon be allocated for sugar mills and distilleries," said a senior government official, who preferred not to be named, following official rules

Justifying the ban, Consumer Affairs Secretary also noted that other major onion-producing nations, such as Egypt and Turkey, have banned exports, putting pressure on the Indian crop
The Centre has banned onion exports till March 31 next year to increase domestic availability and to keep prices in check
"Export prohibition of de-oiled rice bran is extended till March 31, 2024," the directorate general of foreign trade has said in a notification
