Tripoli (Libya), Jan 18 (ANI): Libya's coastguard said that it has rescued 240 African migrants attempting to make the dangerous trek across the Mediterranean to mainland Europe, bringing them back to Tripoli. The rescues of Libyan boats were made for three consecutive days. The development amounts to just under a thousand migrants in the last week. When combined with European Union and Italian vessels, and NGO rescue ships, it brings the total number to about 2,400 over the same period. The International Organization for Migration says most migrants to Europe come by sea, where thousands have died. International Organization for Migration is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. It acts with its partners in the international community to assist in meeting the growing operational challenges of migration management and advance understanding of migration issues.
