Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav joined Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in Agra on Sunday, days after the two parties reached a seat-sharing arrangement in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha polls. Party workers of the SP and the Congress raised slogans in their support as the two leaders, accompanied by Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, waved at the crowd gathered here for the yatra. Attacking the government in his address on the occasion, Yadav said, "Today, farmers are standing against the government. The government is scared of the power of farmers. In the coming time, the BJP will be removed and the INDIA coalition government will give respect to farmers." Senior Congress leader in Uttar Pradesh Pradeep Mathur was also present on the occasion. Earlier, the leaders paid floral tributes at a statue of B R Ambedkar in Agra.

BJP to lose 250K votes on cancellation of police recruitment exam: Akhilesh

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said the cancellation of recently held police constable recruitment examination in Uttar Pradesh would be shocking news for the BJP as the state's youth affected by it will now remove the party from power. Addressing the media at SP headquarters in Lucknow, the former chief minister said, "The cancellation of exam may be breaking news but it is shocking news for BJP as it has lost over 2.5 lakh votes in every constituency of UP." The UP government on Saturday cancelled the constable recruitment examination following allegations of question paper leak and ordered a re-test within six months. Explaining his claim, Yadav said, "If 60 lakh candidates had applied for the police recruitment exam, and if we count their parents the number (of people affected by the decision) goes to 1.8 crore. This means that in each of the 80 (Lok Sabha) constituencies of UP around 2.5 lakh people are going to vote against the BJP." "BJP must understand

BJP's ground-breaking ceremony shows false dreams to public: SP chief

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said the BJP government was showing false dreams to the people by organising the fourth ground-breaking ceremony in Lucknow for investment proposals received during the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 14,000 projects across the state worth more than Rs 10 lakh crore during the ceremony. The projects relate to sectors such as manufacturing, renewable energy, food processing, housing and real estate, hospitality and entertainment, and education. Yadav spoke to reporters after paying tributes to veteran socialist leader and ideologue Acharya Narendra Dev on his death anniversary at Moti Mahal in the state capital. "The ground-breaking ceremony is a pretence. The BJP is doing all these because of the (Lok Sabha) elections. Why did the government not organise this programme six months ago," he questioned. "If any industrialist wanted to come to invest, he could have come earli

BJP supporters should understand how party is winning elections: Akhilesh

The returning officer who conducted the Chandigarh mayoral polls "accepting the crime of rigging" the elections shows how hungry the BJP is for power, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Monday after the Supreme Court came down heavily on the officer for allegedly defacing ballot papers. BJP supporters should understand how the party is winning every election through "theft and scams". Neither the country nor the future of their own children is safe in the hands of such people, Yadav said in a post on X in Hindi. Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court posed searching questions to Returning Officer Anil Masih and said that putting a mark on ballot papers cannot be allowed in an electoral democracy. During the hearing, Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud voiced displeasure over the way the January 30 mayoral polls were held and told Masih that he could be prosecuted in case of any falsehood. "The (pro-)BJP presiding officer's accepting the crime of rigging the Chandigarh .

SP leader backs Maurya, asks Akhilesh Yadav not to accept resignation

A day after Swami Prasad Maurya resigned as national general secretary of Samajwadi Party, party's national secretary Ram Govind Chaudhary on Wednesday wrote a letter to SP president Akhilesh Yadav requesting him not to accept the resignation as he was countering "poison" being spread by RSS and BJP. Maurya had on Tuesday resigned as the party's national general secretary accusing the leadership of discriminating against him and not defending him over his remarks. In his letter to Yadav, Chaudhary said, "Under your successful leadership, every worker and leader of Samajwadi Party is struggling to reduce the effect of this poison of communalism and hypocrisy. Party's national general secretary Shri Swami Prasad Maurya is also strongly opposing this poison of BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh due to which he is on the target of BJP and Sangh." He said Maurya comes from a backward community and because of his "fighting instinct" he has a special place in this society. "It is in the

End of BJP has come: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav renews PDA pitch

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said it has come to the fore in a survey that 91 per cent of the backward people, Dalits and minorities will vote unitedly for the PDA due to which the BJP's equation and previous formulas have failed this time. Yadav also said that the BJP has lagged far behind in the selection of candidates and it was not getting the candidates at all as no one wants to fight to lose. PDA is the term coined by Yadav for "picchde, Dalit and alpsankhyak" (backward, Dalit and minorities) for which the Samajwadi Party is batting for in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. "Survey of those who believe in PDA: Overall 90% say-- 49 per cent backward people have faith in PDA, 16 per cent Dalits have faith in PDA, 21 per cent minorities(Muslims+Sikhs+Buddhists+Christians+Jains and others+Tribals) believe in PDA, 4 per cent 'agde' (upper caste) have confidence in PDA. The Samajwadi Party on Saturday announced that it has offered 11 Lok Sabha seats to the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, with former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav asserting that their alliance is "off to a good start". UP Congress president Ajay Rai, however, said that the decision on the matter will be taken by his party's national leadership. Yadav said in a post in Hindi on X, "Our cordial alliance with the Congress is off to a good start with 11 strong seats. This trend will move forward with the winning equation.
