E-commerce giant Amazon India on Wednesday signed an agreement with the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), under the Ministry of Defence, to provide ex-service personnel with work opportunities across the company. Amazon India on Monday announced the launch of a programme, Aurora, which will leverage the talent of individuals with learning disabilities and provide employment to them. The e-commerce giant rolled out a successful pilot of the programme with a non-profit Mumbai-based organisation Sol ARC in harnessing the talent of a batch of young adults in its delivery stations in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Amazon India said in a statement. The commerce ministry on Thursday said it has inked an agreement with US-based Amazon to provide training to MSMEs in 20 identified districts in areas such as making digital catalogues and tax-related issues with a view to promoting exports through e-commerce medium. The capacity building session will allow MSMEs to learn about imaging, digital cataloguing of their products, tax advisory amongst others, it said in a statement. E-commerce company Amazon has slashed subscription fees for new exporters to USD 1 from USD 120 per month for the first three months of onboarding the platform, the company said on Wednesday. Amazon will start the annual Black Friday and Cyber Monday (BFCM) sale event between November 17 and 27, 2023 on its global website where it will list products from Indian exporters. "To enable more businesses to leverage e-commerce exports and sell globally during the upcoming holiday season, Amazon has slashed the subscription fee for Indian exporters joining its global selling program for the first three months from USD 120 (39.99 per month) to just USD 1. E-commerce company Amazon has launched its last-mile fleet programme in India with 100 per cent electric vehicles, under which it will provide its delivery service providers with access to customized EVs suitable for last-mile deliveries. In the initial phase of the programme, the company has introduced Mahindra Zor Grand three-wheeler EVs, each equipped with specialised enhancements for Amazon's last-mile deliveries. The programme will help more than 300 delivery service partners (DSPs) to make customer deliveries with zero tailpipe emissions, the company said. E-commerce major Amazon India on Tuesday said its 2023 festive sale is the best in its 13 years of operations in the country fuelled by a strong demand, a company official said. Online sales by the e-commerce industry during this festive season are expected to witness 18-20 per cent growth to reach Rs 90,000 crore, according to market research firm Redseer Strategy Consultants. The first four days of this year's festive season sales by e-tailers showed a 16 per cent year-on-year growth, reaching a gross merchandise value (GMV) of Rs 29,000 crore.
