'Amazon excited about India, sees huge headroom for e-comm market growth'

E-commerce giant Amazon is "excited" about India market, charged by digitisation, economic growth and younger demographics, its country head Manish Tiwary has said asserting that the runway on e-commerce opportunity in the country "is huge" going forward. In an interview with PTI, Tiwary, who is the Country Manager Consumer Business at Amazon India, spoke about "a very clear calendar" for making business here profitable, and assured that the company is on track with its 2025 targets. Amazon, which recently marked its 10-year journey in India and has a 100 million-plus customer base, still considers it 'day zero' here, given a massive runaway for growth in this largely under-penetrated market. Amazon senior manager murder in northeast Delhi, two more arrested

Two more persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of an Amazon executive in northeast Delhi's Bhajanpura area, police said on Friday. The accused have been identified as Sohail (23), a resident of Noor-e-Elahi in Bhajanpura and Jubair (23), a resident of Mohanpuri in Bhajanpura, they said. With this, a total of four people have been arrested in the case so far. Around 11:30 pm on Thursday, police received a tip-off about the accused persons and nabbed them near Burari while they were trying to escape to Punjab, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey said. Harpreet Gill (36), who worked as a senior manager with e-commerce giant Amazon, and his maternal uncle Govind Singh (32) were shot at and injured late on Tuesday night in northeast Delhi's Subhash Vihar area when the two were travelling on a motorcycle. Amazon India signs pact with Gujarat Govt, EDII to boost state's exports

Amazon India on Monday said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and the Cottage and Rural Industries Department, Government of Gujarat, to help drive e-commerce exports from the state. Amazon will focus on bringing weavers, artisans and other micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Gujarat on Amazon Global Selling, the e-commerce exports programme.
