Vegoils: Palm jumps to two-week peak on short covering, India weather forecasts

Skills shortage makes it harder for VW to meet new rules of the road

WOLFSBURG, Germany (Reuters) - Volkswagen warned that a shortage of engineers is hampering efforts to get its cars to meet new anti-pollution rules, clouding its sales outlook and overshadowing a forecast-beating 23 percent rise in underlying operating profit.

Suzuki Motorcycle India sales up 47 pc in July

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) today reported 47.1 per cent increase in total sales at 58,805 units in July as against 39,976 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales grew by 56.6 per cent at 53,321 units last month as compared to 34,038 units in July 2017, SMIPL said in a statement. SMIPL Executive Vice-President Sajeev Rajasekharan said, "The positive customer sentiments and healthy demand in urban and semi-urban areas have spurred the growth momentum. This augers well for us ahead of the festive season." He said the company has already dispatched 10,000 units of the newly launched Burgman Street scooter within the first month.

JK Paper shares soar 11 pc after Q1 results

Shares of JK Paper today surged 11 per cent after the company reported 58.27 per cent rise in net profit for the June quarter. The stock soared 10.47 per cent to settle at Rs 139.75 on the BSE. During the day, it jumped 13.83 per cent to Rs 144. On the NSE, shares of the company zoomed 11 per cent to end at Rs 140.20. JK Paper yesterday reported 58.27 per cent rise in standalone net profit at Rs 95.14 crore for the June quarter on better operating margins and improved performance. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 60.11 crore in April-June quarter a year ago, JK Paper said in a BSE filing. Total income in the said quarter stood at Rs 801.79 crore. It was Rs 671.02 crore in the year-ago period. The company said revenue for the June quarter is not comparable as it is reported net of GST revenue.

Shell cos matter: Sebi revokes trading restrictions against Kkalpana Industries

Markets regulator Sebi has revoked trading restrictions imposed against Kkalpana Industries (India) Ltd after not finding any "prima facie" evidence of misrepresentation of financials by the firm. Kkalpana Industries is among the firms against whom Sebi initiated action in August 2017 by ordering trading restrictions, following receipt of a list of 331 "suspected shell companies" from the government. Among others, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) had placed the firm in the trade-to-trade category with limitation on the frequency of trade and imposed a limitation on the buyer by way of 200 per cent deposit on the trade value. "... I do not find any prima facie evidence nor suspicion of misrepresentation of financials/ business of the company (Kkalpana Industries) nor of misuse of books of accounts/ funds of the company nor of violation of LODR (Listing Obligation and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations," Sebi whole time member Madhabi Puri Buch said in an order dated .
