Key indices recover from day's low

Benchmarks came off day's low and were trading near the flat line in early afternoon trade. At 12:19 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was down 23.67 points or 0.06% at 37,582.91. The Nifty 50 index was up 7.80 points or 0.07% at 11,364.30.

Guar seed futures edge lower on profit-booking

Guar seed prices turned weak by Rs 29.50 to Rs 4,453.50 per quintal in futures trade today as operators cut bets at higher levels in tandem with weak physical markets lead. Marketmen said, traders cut down their holdings amid slowdown in demand from guar gum makers coupled with ample stocks on steady inflow of supplies of guar seed from producing belts in the spot markets, which marked the downtick in guar seed futures prices and ended two day's gaining run. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guar seed delivery for the November contracts fell Rs 29.50, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 4,453.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,810 lots. Similarly, the delivery of the most active October contract dropped by Rs 21.50, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 4,431 per quintal with a business turnover of 1,14,680 open lots.

Emami Q1 posts net profit of Rs 26.95 crore

FMCG firm Emami today reported a net consolidated net profit of Rs 26.95 crore for the first quarter ended on June 30, 2018 led by growth in revnue and volume. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 0.89 crore during the April-June period a-year ago, the company said in a BSE filing. Emami's total income stood at Rs 616.34 crore during the quarter under review. It was at Rs 545.62 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Commenting on results Emami Director Mohan Goenka said, "We started the year FY19 with 19 per cent growth in the first quarter. Both volume and revenue registered a handsome recovery compared to the GST impacted corresponding quarter of last year." Meanwhile, Emami said that its revenue for the quarter under review were not comparable due to implementation of GST. Hyundai Motor India Director for Marketing and Sales Rakesh Srivastava resigns

Hyundai Motor India, today said its Director for Marketing and Sales Rakesh Srivastava has resigned to pursue other interests outside the organisation. Srivastava, who joined the company as Vice President and served for six years, has played a key role in the company's growth during the period strengthening its position as the second biggest player in the passenger vehicles segment. Cardamom futures succumb to profit-booking

Cardamom prices fell 1.03 per cent to Rs 1,082 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid easing demand in the spot market. Besides, sufficient stocks on higher arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions too weighed on the prices. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September contract fell by Rs 11.30, or 1.03 per cent, to Rs 1,082 per kg in a business turnover of 26 lots. Similarly, the spice for delivery in August edged down by Rs 5.80, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 1,118 per kg, with trading volume of 14 lots. Marketmen said besides profit-taking by speculators at existing levels, increased arrivals from producing regions put pressure on cardamom futures.
