Axis Bank shares slip nearly 4%; m-cap erodes by Rs 4,709 cr after Q1 results

Shares of Axis Bank today fell nearly 4 per cent after the private lender reported 46 per cent fall in net profit for April-June quarter. The stock dropped 3.23 per cent to settle at Rs 550.10 on BSE. During the day, it went down by 3.59 per cent to Rs 548. At NSE, shares of the company fell 3.76 per cent to close at Rs 548.20. The stock was the worst hit among the blue chips on both the key indices. The company's market valuation diminished by Rs 4,708.84 crore to Rs 1,41,265.16 crore. On the equity volume front, 9.43 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over 2 crore shares changed hands at NSE during the day. Axis bank yesterday reported 46 per cent fall in net profit to Rs 701.09 crore for June quarter due to increase in provisioning for bad loans. The bank had registered a net profit of Rs 1,306 crore in the June quarter of 2017-18. Parekh re-appointed as director even as 22.64% HDFC shareholders voted against

Financial sector doyen Deepak Parekh was re-appointed as non-executive director on the Board of country's largest mortgage lender HDFC, though 22.64 per cent of the shareholders voted against his continuation. HDFC Chairman Parekh secured approval of 77.36 per cent shareholders at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the company held here yesterday. Parekh has been at the helm of HDFC for close to 30 years. J J Irani and Keki Mistry too got re-appointment as directors to HDFC's board with more favourable votes. As per the Companies Act, the votes cast in favour of a special resolution are required to be not less than three times the number of the votes, if any, cast against the resolution. HDFC had to come out with special resolution for re-appointment of its Parekh as he would cross the age of 75-year on October 18 next year. InterGlobe Aviation shares crack 7.5%; m-cap drops by Rs 2,891 cr

Shares of InterGlobe Aviation, which runs largest domestic carrier IndiGo, today plummeted 7.5 per cent after the company reported a steep 96.6 per cent fall in net profit in June quarter. The stock slumped 7.49 per cent to close at Rs 929.05 on BSE. During the day, it cracked 11.26 per cent to Rs 891.10 -- its 52-week low. On NSE, shares of the company tumbled 7.14 per cent to settle at Rs 933.25. Led by the sharp fall in the stock, the company's market valuation eroded by Rs 2,890.68 crore to Rs 35,713.32 crore on BSE. In terms of equity volume, 9.47 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over 83 lakh shares changed hands on NSE during the day. E-tailers' group firms may not influence price of goods, services in any ways: draft ecom policy

Any group company of an online retailer or marketplace may not be allowed to directly or indirectly influence the price or sale of products and services on its platform, a move that could completely restrict e-tailers from giving deep discounts. The recommendation is part of an initial draft circulated among stakeholders for discussion to frame a national e-commerce policy.
