American statesman Kissinger to deliver speech on India-US ties

Former top American diplomat and national strategist Henry Kissinger will deliver a rare speech on the US-India relationship here next week. Kissinger, 95, would participate in Chairman's Dialogue with John Chambers, chairman of the US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF) during its first annual Leadership Summit on July 12. The former secretary of state, who is one of the top statesmen, has had profound influence over America's national security and foreign policy over the past several decades. Maldives, Pakistan ink deal to cooperate in power sector

In a major setback to India, Pakistan and the Maldives have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the island nation's infrastructure development in power sector.A four-member delegation of Maldives State Electric Company (STELCO), headed by its chairman Ahmed Aiman, was on a six-day state visit to Pakistan to learn from the experience of the country's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and benefit from its technical and human capabilities, according to the local media reports.The delegation met WAPDA chairman Muzammil Hussain at Wapda House in Lahore in Pakistan's Punjab province.Ahmed noted that STELCO which is the largest power producing company of Maldives is keen to learn from WAPDA.The MoU will facilitate the participation of STELCO staff in training activities of WAPDA, implementation of staff exchange programmes, participation in experience sharing and institution-building activities, exposure visits and facilitation of leadership development ...

Ahmedabad: CBI arrests 2 retd. bank officials in a loan fraud case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested two senior retired officers of Bank of India in an alleged loan fraud of approximately Rs. 2,654 crore by a Vadodara-based firm.Both the arrested accused will be produced on Saturday before Ahmedabad Trial Court.According to CBI, allegedly the then AGM (who subsequently retired as General Manager) and the then DGM had shown undue favour in the sanction of the working capital limits to a Vadodara based private firm in the year 2008.It was also alleged that both the officials were responsible for processing and recommending the working capital limits to the tune of Rs. 53.40 crore (approx.), in violation of the guidelines of the bank.They were also allegedly responsible for disbursal of the limits, without ensuring the compliance of the conditions stipulated in the sanction.CBI had registered the case against the same.It was further alleged that the said private company engaged in the manufacture of cables and other electrical

19.83 pc growth in revenue collections in Q1 of this fiscal

: Telangana registered a 19.83 per cent growth inrevenue collections during the first quarter of the 2018-19 fiscal, an official release said. "The Chief Minister was informed that the state has achieved 19.83 percent growth in revenue collection during the first quarter of 2018-19 financial year," it said. In the last four financial years, Telangana registered the highest revenue growth in the country and it was a positive dimension for the state as the growth was continuing even in 2018-19, the release said. In the first quarter of the 2017-18 fiscal, the state achieved revenue of Rs 13,374.25 crore, while during the same period in 2018-19 fiscal, revenue was Rs 16,026.63 crore, it said. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also said that from that from next academic year 119 BC Residential schools in addition to the existing ones would be started at the rate one for each assembly segment in the state.
