Global tech company CISCO has partnered with NAMTECH -- an initiative backed by steel maker AMNS India -- to impart training in areas like cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the manufacturing industry. The agreement?, which was signed at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 in Gandhinagar, aims to build a talent pipeline comprising more than 5,000 engineers and technicians over the next five years. There is a growing demand for skilled professionals in cybersecurity and networking, especially for manufacturing entities looking to accelerate digital transformation towards the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies, New Age Makers Institute of Technology (NAMTECH) said in a statement on Friday. India is at a pivotal moment in its history and will partner the US in innovation and job creation, Chairman Emeritus of US network gear maker Cisco John T Chambers said on Thursday. "India will keep tracking towards ultimately becoming the number one economy in the world," Chambers said in a post on LinkedIn. Chambers said India is at a pivotal moment in its history and will drive growth and opportunity in the years to come. "The US and India will become the most strategic partnership in the world, driving global innovation and job creation at an accelerating pace," he added. US network gear maker Cisco on Wednesday announced manufacturing plans for Tamil Nadu, India, as its chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins asserted that the company is bullish about India market and its prospects. The company, in a statement, said it is targeting over USD 1 billion in combined exports and domestic production. Robbins, who is in India this week and currently on the Delhi leg of the multi-city visit, said that the energy in India is "incredible". "India has made tons on progress on digitisation. The ambition of India is very clear and momentum I felt here is incredible," he told PTI in an interview. As the company announced its manufacturing plans for India, Robbins said Cisco will have the first products off the line in 12 months, and will expand to a wider array of Made-in-India products over a period of time. Cisco's manufacturing in India will be through its contract manufacturers and partners. The company did not comment on the quantum of investments it will infuse.
India's transformative digital public infrastructure is a "story worth showcasing" and the interest it has generated among developing and developed nations presents a huge opportunity for the Indian tech industry, according to Cisco India and SAARC President Daisy Chittilapilly. Chittilapilly noted that India's digital public infrastructure offered a unique population-scale, low cost, accessible model, and is generating "tremendous amount of interest" from other nations. Telecom gear maker Cisco is bullish about India's business prospects where rapid digitisation across sectors and 5G play are fuelling robust growth, a top executive said on Monday, adding India is well on its way to be counted among top five markets for the company globally by 2025.
