Everyone in Congress jostling among themselves to become Haryana CM: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said stability is a far-fetched thing for the Congress because of its infighting and now everyone in the party is jostling among themselves to become chief minister in Haryana with "Bapu" (Bhupinder Singh Hooda) and "Beta" (Deepender Hooda) also the contenders. Addressing a poll rally here, he recalled the days when he worked for party organisation in Haryana and said, "It has been my fortune that Haryana has given me a lot, taught me a lot." Haryana's mothers and sisters have given a slogan "Mahra Haryana-Non-stop Haryana" and Haryana's development should continue non-stop and that's why people have made up their mind to give chance for third time to BJP, Modi said. From everywhere, one voice is heard -- "Bharosa dil se, BJP phir se", he said. Haryana goes to polls on October 5. As voting day draws near, the Congress is falling, Modi said. Congress leaders have started to say that in Haryana they will face the same situation what the gran

BJP presided over 'deterioration' in Jammu's security situation: Congress

The Congress Saturday accused the BJP of presiding over an "unprecedented deterioration of security" in Jammu and claimed the Union Territory's administration led by the lieutenant governor was showing "incompetence" in managing the situation. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh posed four questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his political rally in Jammu on Saturday. Why has the security situation in Jammu deteriorated, he asked. "The BJP, despite its claims to be the monopolist of nationalism, has presided over an unprecedented deterioration of security in Jammu," Ramesh said in a post on X. The Congress leader said militancy in Jammu is making its presence felt after a gap of nearly 15 years. Around the start of 2024, the administration claimed that the number of active terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir had come down to double digits -- 31 -- with four active terrorists in the Jammu region, he said. "Now, in a startling about turn, the

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday trained his guns on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asking if he knew the full form of MSP as he underlined that the BJP government in Haryana was procuring 24 crops at the minimum support price. Addressing a poll rally here, Shah also attacked the Congress on the issue of corruption and reservation. Voting for MCD standing committee polls starts, AAP, Congress absent

Voting for the vacant seat in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's standing committee, its highest decision-making body, began on Friday with Additional Commissioner Jitender Yadav presiding over the process. While councillors of the ruling AAP abstained from the voting process, Congress corporators were also not present in the MCD House. Earlier in the day, Mayor Shelly Oberoi, in a press conference, termed the election "unconstitutional" and announced that AAP councillors would not take part in the poll. On Thursday, Congress Delhi chief Devender Yadav said they would not participate in the polls. Before the commencement of voting, an MCD official laid out rules for the casting of votes. He pointed out that no mobile phones were allowed in the House during the elections -- a point of contestation because of which the polls were postponed on Thursday.

Cong's maximum time goes into infighting, failed as opposition: PM Modi

The Congress spends most of its time infighting and every child in Haryana is aware of it, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday while asserting the people have decided to give one more chance to the BJP to serve the state. Interacting with Haryana BJP workers through the NaMo app, he discussed fieldwork at the booth level for the upcoming state polls and encouraged them to devise a strategy for the party to win the election. While alleging the Congress has failed as an opposition in the past 10 years, PM Modi claimed the grand old party's maximum time goes into infighting and taking on each other. Every child in Haryana is aware of the grand old party's internal strife, the prime minister said. Attacking the Congress, he said, "The entire basis of those fighting against us in the polls is lies. They repeatedly tell lies, their talks have no head and tail and they vitiate the atmosphere." Why is PM Modi ignoring demand for granting Marathi special status: Cong

The Congress on Thursday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was "ignoring" the demand for granting Marathi classical language status and that for 10 years, he had done nothing on "the well-argued case" submitted by then CM Prithviraj Chavan in 2014 articulating the demand. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh posed four questions to the prime minister ahead of his Pune visit. However, Modi's visit to Pune was cancelled due to the heavy rain situation in the city. In his posers to Modi, Ramesh asked why is the Chakan industrial area facing a mass exodus of manufacturing units. "Pune's Chakan industrial area is currently witnessing a mass exodus of manufacturing units due to problems caused by poor road infrastructure. Despite ongoing roadwork, basic issues of traffic congestion and potholes continue to plague the area," Ramesh said in his post on X. This has not only caused frequent traffic jams but also a worrying increase in the number of ...

MCD polls on Sep 26 to determine who will dominate Delhi's civic body

A crucial day awaits the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Thursday, as the ruling AAP and the opposition BJP vie for dominance in the key Standing Committee elections. The election, set to fill the sole vacancy in the 18-member Standing Committee, the MCD's highest decision-making body, will take place on Thursday. In a setback for the AAP on Wednesday, three of its councillors switched sides and joined the BJP just a day before the Standing Committee election. Dilshad Colony Garden councillor Preeti, Green Park councillor Sarita Phogat, and Madanpur Khadar East councillor Praveen Kumar joined the BJP changing the numbers dynamics in the corporation. The BJP said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lost majority in the MCD House and hence the "moral authority" to be in power. "The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has today lost majority among
