Kalamassery blasts: Toll rises to 3 as 12-year-old girl succumbs to wounds

The death toll from the blasts at a Christian religious gathering near this port city has risen to three, according to an official statement. A 12-year-old girl, identified as Libina from Malayattoor in Ernakulam district, succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Monday at the Kalamassery Government Medical College Hospital. In the statement issued by the hospital's medical board, the girl was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning with severe burns covering 95 per cent of her body. Despite receiving ventilator support, her condition continued to deteriorate, leading to her death at 12.40 am, it said. This marks the third casualty from the blasts at the convention centre. IED device caused blast at convention centre in Kerala: State Police chief

The blast at a convention centre in Kerala on Sunday that claimed one life and injured 36 others was caused due to an improvised explosive device (IED), state DGP Shaik Darvesh Saheb said. The State Police Chief told reporters here that according to the preliminary probe the blast occurred due to an IED. "We are examining it," he said. Nine people killed, 27 injured in two road accidents in Maharashtra's Beed

Nine people, including a doctor, were killed and 27 others injured in two separate road accidents involving a private bus and an ambulance in Maharashtra's Beed district, police said on Thursday. The speeding bus overturned at Aashta Fata around 6 am on Thursday when it bus was on way from Mumbai towards Beed, located about 120 km from here, they said. The bus was moving at a high speed. A passenger was killed and at least 34 others injured when a private bus carrying them overturned in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district on Friday, the police said. Shinde orders probe into Samruddhi Expressway accident, announces ex-gratia

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday ordered a probe into a road accident on the Samruddhi Expressway which claimed 12 lives. The kin of each of the deceased will get a compensation of Rs five lakh from the state government, Shinde said. A speeding mini-bus hit a container truck in Vaijapur area on the Samruddhi Expressway in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district in the early hours of Sunday, killing at least 12 people and injuring 23 others, as per police. Eight persons, including two children, were killed after a car and truck collided head-on near here on Sunday, police said. While the cause of the accident is being probed, four men and a woman, besides the two children were killed on the spot, Chengam town police said.
