Rahul Gandhi has now declared 'open war' against Indian state itself: BJP

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks that "we are now fighting the BJP, the RSS and the Indian state itself" triggered a row on Wednesday with the BJP alleging that his statement was straight out of "George Soros' playbook." Addressing party leaders after the inauguration of the Congress' new headquarters at 9A, Kotla Road here, Gandhi said, "Do not think that we are fighting a fair fight. There is no fairness in this. If you believe that we are fighting a political organisation called the BJP, that we are fighting a political organisation called the RSS, you have not understood what is going on. "The BJP and the RSS have captured every single institution of our country. We are now fighting the BJP, the RSS and the Indian state itself," he said. Sharing a video clip of Gandhi's remarks, BJP IT department head Amit Malviya said, "Rahul Gandhi has now declared an open war against the Indian State itself. This is straight out of George Soros's playbook." In his remarks, Gandhi said,

Consider plea over duplicate entries in voter list: Delhi HC to EC

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the Election Commission to consider at an appropriate stage a plea raising concerns over alleged duplication of names in the capital's voter list and adopt such technological tools that would assist it in eliminating such duplication. As the petitioner's counsel remarked that the Delhi assembly elections would be over by the time the Commission would consider his plea, a bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru said, "before every election these matters come." "There is a process for revision of electoral roll. It can't be done at this stage," the bench, also comprising Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, said. The petitioner remarked that even the "ex-chief minister" was aggrieved by the issue. Advocate Sidhant Kumar, appearing for the Election Commission, said the petition did not show a single instance of alleged duplication. He further stated that the Commission has already undertaken the necessary procedure for revision of electoral rol

Delhi polls: BJP alleges irregularities in voter list ahead of voting day

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva raised concerns on Tuesday over alleged irregularities in the voter list, ahead of the February 5 Assembly polls in the capital. Accompanied by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Bansuri Swaraj and senior party leader Om Pathak, Sachdeva met Election Commission (EC) officials to highlight their grievances. He claimed that more than five lakh new voter applications have been filed in recent days, including many that have raised suspicions. "We found out that a significant number of these applicants are aged 80 years or above. How can an 80-year-old person not have a voter identity card until now? Who are these people?" Sachdeva questioned. He also alleged that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal has applied to get the names of 40 voters from the Dalit Mandir area deleted and accused the former Delhi chief minister of being "anti-Dalit". "Kejriwal has filed an application to delete the names of 44 voters of a Valmiki temple. These people
