Delhi Assembly sends CAG reports on AAP govt finances to PAC for probe

The CAG reports on finance and appropriation accounts of the previous AAP government in Delhi, revealing non-submission of bills and utilisation certificates worth hundreds of crores of rupees and risk of fund misuse, referred on Friday to the Assembly's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for investigation. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday tabled the reports in the Assembly, Finance Accounts and Appropriation Accounts of the Delhi government for the financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23. Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said that in the Financial Accounts for the year 2021-2022, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) found that an amount of Rs 432.42 crore was outstanding due to non-submission of bills by government departments, It means there was no way to confirm whether the amount was actually spent as approved by the Legislative Assembly. Delhi Assembly to go paperless, signs agreement to implement NeVA platform

Moving towards paperless work, the Delhi Assembly on Saturday signed a tripartite agreement with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and the Delhi government for implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA). The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta. With this, Delhi Assembly has become the 28th legislature to adopt the NeVA platform, a statement from the Assembly Secretariat said. The agreement was signed by Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary in Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Ranjeet Singh, Delhi Assembly Secretary, and Reetesh Singh, Principle Secretary (Law) in Delhi government. Delhi Assembly Speaker nominates 14 MLAs to MCD, 11 from BJP, 3 from AAP

Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta has nominated 14 MLAs to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), boosting the BJP's aspirations of running a triple-engine government by winning the mayoral elections next month. Of the 14 MLAs, 11 are from the BJP and three from AAP. The nominated MLAs vote in the elections for the post of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, due in April. In a statement, Gupta said that the nominated MLAs would assist the municipal corporation in budget formulation, civic administration and urban governance. Laxmi Nagar MLA Abhay Verma was on Tuesday appointed the ruling BJP's chief whip in the Delhi Assembly. His appointment was made in a meeting of the BJP Legislative Party in the presence of the party's Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva. Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi on Thursday said AAP MLAs were being stopped from entering the Delhi Assembly premises after being suspended for three days from the proceedings in the House.
